About Elie

Elie joined CBS News/CBS Mornings in 2023 as a weather producer for its national newscasts, based in New York City. Previously, he worked for WeatherNation, producing weather coverage across the country. In his role as weather producer, he coordinates weather-related scripts, video and graphics for broadcast. Elie began his professional meteorology career forecasting and presenting the weather at WBKB-TV in Alpena, Michigan from 2018 to 2021.

He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science in atmospheric science and a certificate in meteorology in 2017 from York University in Toronto. During his final year of university, he served as secretary for the York Atmospheric Science Club (YASC). He also earned a certificate in broadcast journalism from Seneca College’s Broadcast Journalism Summer Institute.

Elie was raised in Toronto, Ontario where his fascination with weather began in sixth grade science class. His interest in severe weather grew during high school, mainly because of the Vaughan, Ontario tornadoes of August 2009. Another storm that solidified his passion for meteorology was the Southern Ontario ice storm of December 2013.

Outside of the weather, he enjoys seeing Broadway shows and playing Broadway tunes on the piano. He finds every form of weather amazing, from frigid blizzards to summertime heat waves, and loves to communicate his passion for weather with others.
